Modern Cat Furniture My Cats Love That Fits My Decor

Finding cat furniture your cats will use is one thing.

Finding cat furniture that actually looks good in your home is a whole different story.

Ever since we moved into our new home back in August, one of my biggest goals has been creating a space that feels cozy, functional, and pet-friendly without sacrificing my own style. If I’m being honest, a big reason we fell in love with this house in the first place was because of how well it worked for our pets too. Our living room is large enough for hosting friends with pets, there’s more room for Widget and I to play, the basement window will eventually lead out to our future catio, and we even have a main floor room that we use as our pet room.

Because of that, I’ve been trying to find pieces that work for both me and my animals. I want my cats to have places to climb, scratch, hide, nap, and bird-watch, but I also want my home to still feel warm, styled, and like my space.

If you’re also trying to create a home that feels calm, functional, and pet-friendly, you might also like my post on how to create a cozy home with pets when you have ADHD

So today I’m sharing some of my favourite modern cat furniture and decor-friendly pet pieces in our home so far. Some of these I purchased myself, while others were gifted or part of previous collaborations, but all opinions in this post are my own.

The Modern Cat Furniture in My Home

Here are a few of the cat furniture pieces and pet-friendly home finds my cats and I genuinely love.

Jessie Litter Box Cabinet by 4Cats&Dogs

This is one of those pieces I love because it looks good and serves a purpose, even if I’m not using it for its original purpose.

Instead of using it as a litter box cabinet, I actually use it in my living room for extra storage. One of the best features is the scratcher material on the side that sits near our couch. My cats scratch that instead of the couch, which honestly makes it a win in my books.

What I love:

  • looks like an actual furniture piece

  • adds extra storage

  • helps redirect scratching away from the couch

  • blends into the room really well

This is the kind of product I’m always drawn to because it does not scream “pet furniture.”

Vevo Cat Bed by MAU

I LOVE this bed.

It’s super solid, looks beautiful in the room, and feels like one of those pieces that actually adds to the space instead of taking away from it. I added a heating pad and some cozy blankets inside because Olive absolutely loves lounging in it.

Also, the colour combo with the chair is one of my favourite little corners in the house. It very much feels like I bought the accent chair for her, and maybe I did. 👀

What I love:

  • very sturdy

  • looks beautiful in the room

  • cozy and easy to style

  • Olive actually uses it

Cactus Cat Cave by Dharma Dog Karma Cat

This one is such a cute little hideout.

Olive especially loves it when people are over and she wants to be up high, tucked away, and doing her own thing. I think every cat house needs at least one option like this, especially if you have a cat who likes a little privacy when the house feels busy.

What I love:

  • cute and playful design

  • gives cats a cozy hiding spot

  • great for cats who like to be up high

  • still works with the room visually

Clifford Bookshelf by 4Cats&Dogs

I love multifunctional furniture, and this piece is exactly that.

I use it for my own storage with books and little trinkets, but it also doubles as one of Olive’s favourite getaway spots. It gives her a place to hang out while still fitting right into the room like a normal bookshelf.

It also just looks SO good.

  • perfect if you want your cat furniture to blend in more

Ivy 3 Cat Tower by MAU

This is officially Sprout’s domain.

He LOVES this thing, and I’m constantly finding him napping in it in the living room. It’s such a beautiful piece, feels super solid, and has become one of those items that’s just part of the room now.

That’s always a good sign for me. If it works well enough for the cats and looks good enough that I do not mind seeing it every day, it earns its spot.

What I love:

  • beautiful modern look

  • sturdy and solid

  • cats actually use it

  • fits into the living room really nicely

Jewl Nesting Table + Scratcher by 4Cats&Dogs

This is such a smart piece.

It works as a side table by our couch, gives us a place to put drinks, adds a bit of storage, and also helps redirect scratching away from the couch. I always love pet furniture that feels practical for humans too, and this is a perfect example of that.

What I love:

  • doubles as a side table

  • practical for everyday use

  • helps save the couch

  • great mix of function and style

Window Perch by Mewoofun

I have these on almost all our windows, and they are one of the best cat purchases I’ve made.

They’re super sturdy and have never fallen off, even when Sprout launches himself onto them at full speed. They’re also amazing for enrichment. I put bird feeders out front, so the cats love hopping up there to watch the birds and squirrels.

It keeps them entertained, gives them a nice sunny place to lounge, and does not take up floor space.

(These beds must be popular because they're sold out a lot of the time, so if you click the link and they're sold out, look at Amazon's suggested items for inspo! Other brands sell very similar products)

What I love:

  • super sturdy

  • amazing enrichment

  • great for bird watching

  • saves floor space

  • easy way to make windows more cat-friendly

My Honest Experience

One thing I’ve learned since moving is that I do not want to fill my home with pet products that feel bulky, cheap-looking, or like they clash with everything else in the room.

That does not mean every piece has to be expensive or perfect, but I do really appreciate finding cat furniture that feels a little more thoughtful in design.

For me, the best pieces are the ones that:

  • my cats genuinely use

  • blend into the room

  • offer some kind of enrichment or practical purpose

  • do not make the space feel cluttered

The only downside with more aesthetic cat furniture is that it can sometimes cost more than traditional pet-store options. But personally, if it is something I’m going to look at every single day in my living room, I’d rather invest in pieces that feel more me.

Things to Consider Before Buying Cat Furniture

Before buying cat furniture for your own home, here are a few things I’d think about:

Your cat’s personality

Some cats want cozy hideouts. Others want height, window views, or places to scratch. The prettiest piece is not always the one your cat will use most.

Your space

If you live in a smaller home or apartment, multifunctional pieces can be such a good option. Furniture-style scratchers, side tables, or storage pieces are great for making the most of your space.

Your decor style

If your home leans cozy, modern, earthy, or mid-century inspired, there are definitely pet pieces out there that will blend in better than others. Neutral tones, wood finishes, and woven textures usually work really well.

Function first

As much as I love a cute pet product, I still want it to serve a real purpose. Whether that’s scratching, climbing, hiding, lounging, or enrichment, function matters.

Traditional Cat Furniture vs Modern Cat Furniture

Traditional cat furniture definitely has its place, especially if your main priority is budget or function.

But if you’re someone who cares a lot about your home decor, modern cat furniture can be worth looking into. I find it tends to:

  • blend into the room better

  • feel less bulky or chaotic

  • use nicer colours and materials

  • work better in visible spaces like living rooms

For me, the sweet spot is finding pieces that my cats genuinely love but that also do not make me feel like I have to hide them when people come over.

Final Thoughts

I love turning our new home into a cozy little corner for both me and my pets.

That has been a huge part of this season of life for me: figuring out how to make our home feel warm, personal, pet-friendly, and still true to my style. These are some of my favourite pieces we have so far, and I know I’ll keep adding more over time as we keep making this place our own.

If you’re looking for cat furniture that feels a little more decor-friendly, I hope this gave you some ideas!
