Pet Influencers Are More Than a Trend, They’re a Smart Strategy

Let’s be real, pet content just hits different. Doesn't matter if it’s a cat being dramatic over a new treat or a dog excitedly unboxing a surprise; it makes people pause, smile, and share. In 2025, brands are realizing that working with pet creators isn’t just a cute idea..it’s a strategic move.

As a full-time content creator and photographer who works alongside my cozy dog and cat influencer crew (Widget and Olive), I’ve partnered with a variety of brands to help them tell their stories through relatable and engaging content. Here’s why I think more brands should lean into the pet space and what it looks like when you do it right!

Behind every great pet influencer is a camera and a dog who knows he’s the real star of the show.

  1. Pet Content Grabs Attention Instantly

How many times have you been driving down the road and suddenly...dog! You’re instantly distracted. Or you go on a tropical vacation and end up spending half your time feeding resort cats scraps from the buffet like some kind of feline food truck. Just me? No? Didn’t think so.

There’s something about animals that makes people stop and pay attention. And that’s exactly what makes pet content such a powerful tool for your brand.

2. Pets Build an Emotional Connection

People feel something when they see animals. Let's be real; how many times have you had cuteness aggression when you look at a kitten? Emotional content (sad, funny, relatable, etc.) is more likely to stick in someone’s memory and drive action.

3. You’re Not Just Hiring a Cute Pet- You’re Hiring a Creator With Skills!

One of the biggest misconceptions about pet creators is that we’re all just posting iPhone videos and hoping they go viral. But the truth? There are many of us who are full-on content creators with backgrounds in photography, videography, marketing, or media.

I personally use professional cameras, lighting, and editing tools to make sure the content I deliver is polished, on-brand, and versatile for multiple platforms, not just social media. I’m not just handing over pet content, I’m creating assets that can be repurposed across your entire marketing strategy.

Clean, product-focused content that feels natural (and delicious, just ask Widget).

4. Pet Creators Are Trusted Voices

My followers know I don’t promote anything I wouldn’t actually use with Widget and Olive. Pet content creators often post real and authentic content, and you can't force a cat to eat a treat on camera that they hate... So that kind of trust drives results!

5. You Don’t Have to Be a Pet Brand to Work With Dog and Cat Influencers

You don’t have to be selling pet products to benefit from working with a pet content creator. If anything, having pets in your content can actually enhance engagement (just like I mentioned back in point 1!).

Pets catch people’s attention, draw them in, and help deliver your message in a more relatable and emotional way.

Some of my favourite collaborations have been with non-pet brands! Click the links to view the content I've made for each brand. Go on, I dare you!

I’ve worked with:

  • Cozey - Our couch is still a huge hit with anyone that comes over; it really is COZEY.

  • HexClad - I've never had pots and pans that work the way HexClad does!

  • Henry’s Our local Canadian camera store that I've been shopping at personally since I got my first DSLR back in 2009!

  • GoodFood - Promoted their meal kit delivery services with a cute hook of Widget looking out the window right at the beginning. I actually had friends from high school message me saying they saw my ad on TikTok!

  • Aosom - A lot of our furniture is from Aosom, and we made some awesome content for them too!

If your product or service is part of everyday life, there’s a creative way to integrate it into pet-friendly content that people want to watch.

Looking for a content creator without pets in the frame? I can do that too! I'm not just another pet creator; I’m a photographer, videographer, and marketer who happens to have two very helpful furry assistants. So, if you're after pet-inclusive content or something more lifestyle-focused, I’ve got you covered.

Final Thoughts

These are just a few reasons why I think it’s important to work with influencers and content creators who have pets, even if your brand isn’t in the pet niche. Pets bring engagement and authenticity to content in a way that works with people!

FAQ: Pet Influencer Marketing in 2025

Why should brands work with dog and cat influencers in 2025?

Brands should consider partnering with pet influencers because pet content grabs attention, builds emotional connections, and feels authentic. In 2025, pet creators aren't just posting cute photos: they're professional content creators who deliver high-quality, strategic assets that drive engagement across social media and beyond.

Do I have to sell pet products to work with a pet influencer?

Not at all! Many non-pet brands see incredible results by incorporating animals into their content. Dogs and cats naturally boost engagement and relatability, making your message more memorable. From furniture to food delivery, pet-inclusive content works across a wide range of industries.

Are pet influencers professional content creators or just hobbyists?

While some pet accounts are casual, many dog and cat influencers are full-time creators with expertise in photography, videography, and marketing. They produce polished content that’s versatile, brand-aligned, and ready to be used across digital platforms, not just for social posts.

What makes pet content more effective than traditional influencer marketing?

Pet content stands out because it creates instant emotional reactions: joy, humor, nostalgia. People trust animals and the creators behind them, which leads to higher engagement and stronger consumer trust. Plus, you can’t fake a pet's reaction on camera!

How do I find the right pet influencer to partner with?

Look for creators who align with your brand values, have an engaged audience, and can deliver professional content. Bonus points if they’ve worked with brands outside the pet space and have a strong portfolio. You can view my portfolio here if you're looking for inspiration!
